About Us

Aurora Hotel Keflavik is a family-built airport hotel with a story rooted in travel, hard work and a lifelong dream.

Our founder, Sigurður Antonsson, began working at sea as a teenager, travelling the world and learning early what it means to be far from home. Throughout his life, he built houses, explored different businesses and carried one dream with him: to build a hotel of his own.

In 2012, that dream became reality when he and his wife opened the Aurora Star Hotel with 70 rooms, just across from Keflavik International Airport. The hotel was created for travellers who needed something simple but important: a comfortable place to rest before or after a flight, with the terminal only a short walk away.

As travel through Keflavik grew, so did the hotel. In 2017, the family began building a new wing, continuing the work that started as a personal dream and became a family business.

Today, Aurora Hotel remains family-run, with the founder still involved and working alongside his family and team. For many guests, the hotel is the first or last stop of an Iceland journey, a place to rest after a late arrival, prepare for an early flight, and continue with confidence.

Every stay is part of that original idea: making the first or last step of an Iceland journey feel simple and calm.
